Robert W. Stannard

The son of British parents, Robert W. Stannard was born in Durham, North Carolina and spent much of his childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hendrix College and studied Philosophy and Theology at Oxford University for a year.

Robert received his J.D. from University of Georgia School of Law. He participated extensively in appellate advocacy programs and served as an editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. He also authored publications on NATO intervention in the former Yugoslavia and has contributed as a guest author to the Fulton County Daily Report.

In addition to his professional activities, Robert is an avid traveler, photographer, sports fan, and fly fisherman.

PRACTICE GROUPS

Professional Negligence / Medical Malpractice
Robert has represented hospitals, individual physicians, their practices, and other medical professionals in cases involving allegations of negligent care and treatment, misdiagnosis, lack of consent, and wrongful death and birth trauma. He has also dealt extensively with issues involving agency and vicarious liability and counseled hospitals, pharmacies, and their staff on risk management and ongoing developments in law.

General Liability
In addition to his other practice groups, Robert has extensive experience in general liability matters, particularly defending cases involving premises liability and motor vehicle accidents. Robert has also represented individual clients in personal injury claims and handled business litigation matters and contract disputes.

Construction Litigation
Robert has extensive experience in construction litigation. He has represented owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in cases involving allegations of negligent design/construction and claims for delay. Additionally, he has represented a number of entities involved in road construction, including paving and sign contractors as well as design professionals.
