    Sean L. Gill is an associate at Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner where his practice focuses primarily on defending builders and developers against a variety of construction defects claims. Additionally, Sean regularly defends against personal injury claims and handles insurance coverage matters. Sean has successfully litigated cases throughout Georgia in both state and federal court.

    Sean graduated with honors from the University of Alabama-Birmingham with a degree in Finance. He was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society and received the Outstanding Academic Excellence Award from the school’s Department of Finance, Quantitative Methods, and Economics. Sean earned his law degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. He participated on the Thurgood Marshall mock trial team and served as the Vice-President of the school’s Black Law Students Association. He also served as a regional executive member for the Mid-West Black Law Students Association. In addition, Sean interned with the school’s Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic, where he provided pro-bono services to victims of predatory lending. He was recognized for his hard work and talent by earning the highest grade awards in the school’s Civil Litigation Clinic and Trial Tactics courses.

    Before entering private practice, Sean was an assistant city attorney for the City of Atlanta Law Department, where he represented the City, its police officers, and other city departments against claims of civil rights violations. In that capacity, Sean successfully disposed of numerous lawsuits without the need for a trial and without any finding of liability.

    PRACTICE GROUPS

    Construction Litigation
    As a member of the Construction practice group, Sean represents general contractors, subcontractors, builders and land developers in the resolution of varying issues, including building structure defects, sedimentation and erosion, and moisture intrusion. Sean also has experience defending against claims of copyright infringement of architectural plans.

    General Liability
    In addition to his construction litigation experience, Sean also has considerable experience in general liability matters, particularly in defending personal injury claims arising out of motor vehicle accidents. He also has significant experience litigating claims related to landlord/owner/occupier liability, including slip and falls, negligent security, and third-party criminal misconduct.

    Insurance Coverage
    Sean also has experience analyzing coverages under commercial general liability policies and preparing coverage opinions and reservation of rights letters for insurers relating to suits asserting construction defects claims.
