Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree, with honors, in Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. While at UNC, Ms. Bellis expanded her studies beyond Chapel Hill, researching sustainable development issues while living in the United Kingdom and on the coast of North Carolina.

Jennifer received her Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law in 2012, where she graduated with honors. While at Emory, Jennifer was a student attorney in Emory’s Turner Environmental Law Clinic, and an active member of Emory’s Moot Court Society.  After graduating from Emory, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable William S. Duffey, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

In addition to her practice at Bendin Sumrall & Lander, Ms. Bellis practiced environmental law at an AmLaw 200 law firm.  There, she assisted clients with transactional, permitting, enforcement, litigation, and regulatory compliance matters arising under major federal environmental and health and safety laws including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, CERCLA, and OSHA, as well as corresponding state programs across multiple jurisdictions.

Practice Groups

Construction
Jennifer represents general contractors, subcontractors, and builders in matters including litigation of commercial and residential construction defect claims, construction accidents, federal Clean Water Act claims, and other storm water related state law claims.

Pharmacy Law & Regulation
Jennifer counsels compounding pharmacies, health system pharmacies and pharmacists regarding best practices and compliance with FDA and Georgia Board of Pharmacy regulations, including issues relating to 503(A) compounding pharmacy regulations, and 503(B) outsourcing facility registration.  She also represents clients in proceedings before the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.

General Liability
Jennifer also represents commercial property owners in premises liability cases.

Professional Negligence/ Medical Malpractice
Jennifer works with the professional negligence practice group to defend hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers in pre-litigation medical malpractice matters and in law suits.
