March 28, 2018: Kristin Pierson and Paige McKinney file amicus curiae brief in the Georgia Court of Appeals on behalf of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association addressing the admissibility of evidence that a plaintiff’s attorney directed her client to seek medical treatment from a particular treating physician. The brief also addressed the trial court’s exclusion of evidence that the same treating physician placed a lien on the plaintiff’s medical bills, raising issues of possible bias concerning his care and treatment of the plaintiff. The GDLA filed its brief to argue that the trial court incorrectly excluded both pieces of evidence from the jury’s consideration.
The case is Stephens v. Castano-Castano, Georgia Court of Appeals Case No. A18A0100.
