Avril Calhoun

Associate

Avril is an Associate at Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner, where she represents clients in premises liability and general liability matters. She is dedicated to providing strategic, results-driven advocacy and guiding clients through every stage of the litigation process with professionalism and attention to detail.

Avril earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Albany State University in 2015 before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. During law school, she demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service as the Social Chair and Community Liaison for the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). She also honed her advocacy skills through participation in the William E. McGee Moot Court competition and gained valuable courtroom experience while working in the Adult Criminal Division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office under the Student Practice Act.

Prior to joining Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner, Avril focused her practice on general liability defense, with significant experience handling premises liability and motor vehicle liability claims.

In her free time, Avril enjoys learning to play the piano, spending time with family and friends, reading the monthly book club’s book, watching college football, and playing with her dog, Lev.
